Head of School’s Welcome Message

Welcome to our school! While Black Rhino Academy is currently a small but growing international Primary and Secondary school, I think that you will find that while small, we are certainly not small-minded. The school is progressive and forward-thinking in the provision of an educational experience that allows our students to excel academically while being encouraged to develop as a whole person.

I think that this is one of the most interesting eras to be involved in education. In the face of a shifting socio-economic, technological and environmental landscape, one is entitled and even obliged to ask, ‘What are we educating for?’ The industrial model of education remains stubbornly entrenched but potentially obsolete. These challenges present our students with considerable opportunities and duties to be responsible citizens, to be leaders with integrity and to make a difference in their stewardship of the planet. Accordingly, the metrics of success in education need to be as diverse as the children we serve. So, while Cambridge International provides a spine to our curriculum, it is important that this is supplemented with a variety of other experiences inside and outside of the classroom that are as valuable and valued as traditional learning.
